Celebrations have already been held concerning the idea that the Voyager 1 spacecraft is the first man-made object known to have left the local environment of our Sun and entered the interstellar realm, however some doubt has arisen about that idea. As discussed in this paper, certain evidence indicates that the Voyager 1 spacecraft is still inside the influence of our Sun due to a particular phenomenon known as a ‘flux transfer event’ between the Solar environment and interstellar space.
